Notes:
[1] – You can translate 「ね」 (ne), however you want as long as it basically has the idea of confirming for agreement from another party on something that the speaker may already know, so for example: “right?” or “you know?” I used “huh” as in “So you broke my guitar huh…” (same general idea)

[2] – 言っちゃって (icchatte) – Any verb that ends with a “chatte” or a “jyatte” expresses the idea that someone did that action but kind of “regrets” doing that action, or it was something that they didn’t mean to do, but they ended up doing it anyway (which is why it’s translated how it is). And these two lines need to be read in succession.

[3] – 街 (machi) – has a lot of meanings depending on how it’s used: “town,” “block,” “neighborhood,” “street,” etc… but I kinda took some poetic license and made it into “place” because it seems more general and fits more with the vague image of going somewhere that hasn’t been seen before. You can replace “place” with “town,” “block,” “neighborhood,” “street” etc… if you want. It doesn’t sound as pretty in my head and it gets too complicated ^^;;

[4] – 独りよがりでは (hitoriyogari de wa) – So 独りよがり(hitoriyogari) means to be complacent with oneself, and the で(de) after it means that you’re “in the state of being” complacent and you can either do something in that state, or just stay that way. In these lyrics, the は(wa) is referring to the “constant state of being complacent” and saying that that “is too dangerous” (Which is why it’s translated as it is)

[5] – リアルなdays (RIARU na days) – So RIARU is the Japanese pronunciation of “real” and then adding the “na” after it makes it an adjective describing “days,” but if YUI just wanted to say “real days” she could’ve just said it all in English, but to me, “REAL na days” makes it kind of limited because there may be days that are not described as “real.” So like for example: “Today is a rainy day”, but that doesn’t mean tomorrow will be a rainy day. Now think of “real” in this lyric as being the same type of adjective as “rainy.” So I threw in “for these REAL days” for the translation to make everything connect and to make it kind of show that there are those specific days that are “real”. (DID THAT MAKE SENSE AT ALL?! )

[6] – よ(yo) at the end of a sentence expresses emphasis that what the speaker is saying is something that the speaker feels strongly in and knows for sure (therefore the “you know” as a part of the translation).

[7] – 次(tsugi) literally just means “next,” but it has the implication of there being a next stage or step that someone wants to accomplish. So if I’m grading papers and I say “tsugi!” to my assistant, I could either mean that I want the next paper, or I want the next class’ pile, or I want the next assignment to grade. Either way, it shows that I want to move forward to the next step/stage of my job, which is how I interpreted it here.

About a month ago, B=PASS asked readers to send questions to YUI through Twitter.
Blackdog and Hirotana helped YUI-Lover members to translate their questions.
aron94, azmikun, gotchi, nana, xerithn hamza and blackdog were selected and YUI answered their questions!

Translation by cyclo and azmi.

azmikun
The other day you said that you want to try bungee jumping, so have you tried it?

YUI
I haven’t tried it. I said that I want to try was just a joke, but because it looks like became a real talk, so I was thinking “could I run away from this”, but…….some people knew about this uh? (LOL)

So, you feel it’s impossible?

YUI
No. But I think I will get scared. As my age become older, I became scared to high place. It’s scary.

azmikun
How many guitar you have? Do you give name to your guitar? I want to give name to my guitar, so if you have recommendation please tell me!

Hmm..I think it’s about 10 or no? I have 5 acoutic guitars, as for electric guitar, I have few….not less than 10 I think (LOL). My friend gave name “Stephanie” to my acoustic guitar. “Why is it a foreign name?” I asked my friend. That kind of name is interesting, right? Maybe you can give name “POCI”

Japan-ish name is not good? such as “masako” for example.

That’s good. I think(e.u band) member’s ARISA give name to her keyboard. Japan-ish name. I think it’s “Takashi”

So, you don’t give name to your guitars, right?

YUI
はい。
I don’t.

HamzaMohamand3
Do you have any plans for a world tour?

YUI
There are no plans at all yet (Haha). If I had the courage I would like to do it.

gogogotchi
When driving, what sort of music do you like to listen to?

YUI
Jason Mraz is fine anywhere. I like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, as well as the radio, because I can listen to new songs. What? Who is this person? and I investigate about the artist with that feeling.

gogogotchi
I’m the Canadian who participated in the es.car dance during the HK Live. It was very fun. What style of dance would YUI-san like to try out?

YUI
Enyakora style, maybe? lol. Since I can’t really dance, (can’t figure out what this is) is also difficult, even though it’s not a dance, a dance that I can remember immediately would be good.

Enyakora = A chant/yell used while dancing in ancient Japan.

aron94_6
A question from Singapore. What are you most afraid of?

YUI
Cockroach!? Society! maybe. What’s there I wonder? Even though I say I’m afraid of it, it’s not something that will create an unpleasant feeling. Doesn’t a cockroach make you imagine things?

B=PASS
How about ghosts?

YUI
I’m afraid of ghosts too but…

B=PASS
Are you fine with bugs?

YUI
U~un, no way. I grew up close to nature but, as I grew up, I developed a fear of bugs, and unfortunately became scared of touching them. It’s gross when their legs come off that’s why. It’s kind of pitiful so I don’t touch it.

B=PASS
Are frogs and snakes ok?

YUI
I guess maybe I can touch green frogs. They are like little dinosaurs, I’m scared already.

※Midorigaeru = Japanese tree frog

hioenana
If you could travel in time, would you like to travel to the past or future, and what would you like to do?

YUI
I definitely have to go don’t I. I guess it would be the past. It would definitely be bad to see my future. I’ll go back to the past, and eat a christmas cake. The one I had when I was an elementary school student.

B=PASS
If I could add on, what if you could meet someone like Ryouma Sakamoto, or Marie Antoinette, etc.

YUI
I guess I would meet Queen Himiko? ah, Kiyosirou Imawano-san, Donto-san too. I want to try listening to people like them speak.

(Ryouma Sakamoto)
It’s difficult to explain but, he’s someone in Japanese history who was very popular.

(Himiko)
A queen when Japan was still called Wakoku (Weiguo) by Chinese rulers (AD200)

(Kiyosirou Imawano)

(Donto)
The person who was BO GUMBOS’ vocalist
YUI wrote it in her diary about [Yume no Naka] from the DVD [Time Bokaan]

KennyWoo
If YUI-san could spend 1 day with a fan, what would you like to try doing together?

YUI
That sounds fun eh?

B=PASS
How about a barbecue?

YUI
ah! good idea!

B=PASS
“いいじゃん！”、いただきました（笑）
I received a praise lol

YUI
A barbecue would be good eh. Barbecue is good! BBQ!

The most important factor is the ambiance. When you enter the home and an image of a good life wells up, that would be good. Next is the environment of the neighbourhood. If it is close to nature, near a convenience store, as well as good security etc. First is your affinity I think, with the room.

The lyrics to this song are really deep, and the subject in all of the lines seem kinda vague, so please do read my explanations and interpretation at the bottom to understand why I translated it the way I did. This song is half the meaning of the words, and half the interpretation of the listener, so after reading the explanations, you can form your own ideas about the song as well! (And please tell me what you think because this one is so subjective to those listening to it that the meaning could be changed any time :good )

lala lalala
Separation

lala lalala
Separation

lala lalala

Explanation:
–> so 勝手 (katte) means to do things at your own convenience, or at your own pace, without thinking of other people’s opinions or whether or not doing something would affect other people, so in a way it is being “selfish,” but it’s a little less severe than “selfish (自己中 -jikochuu)” in my opinion. So I wasn’t sure how exactly to translate it, but it ended up as saying things “for your own benefit.”
–> 言わないで (iwanaide), I think, should be a command from the speaker meaning “Don’t say…..” I thought about it for a long time, and to me, it makes more sense for it to be a command, and it also sounds more natural to me to interpret it as a command. I get yelled at in this format by my supervisor all the time: 「バカなこと言わないで」 (Baka na koto iwanaide!) – “Don’t say such stupid things”.

[2] – 受け売り (ukeuri) – literally means, “receiving and selling” but is used as an expression to describe stories/opinions/knowledge that is passed down from one person to another (they “receive” and then they “sell” the information). So the “easy” in English is used to describe these “second-hand stories” and I think that she means that they’re “easily made up second-hand stories,” but I left the English in there to keep true to YUI’s English usage ^^

–> なら (nara) after a noun phrase means “if ____” and then usually refers to something that has already been mentioned before. So “henji nara” would mean “if it’s an answer,” but that doesn’t really make sense in English, so I took the part of “nara” that refers to something that has been mentioned before, meaning that the speaker was probably asked for an answer, and so in return she says “If it’s an answer you want…. ”
–> したはずよ (shita hazu yo) – はず(hazu) has the meaning of “should” as in “I should do something” or “It should be there” etc… Which is why the translation becomes: “I should’ve given you one(an answer) already.”

[4] – 話すことはないわ (hanasu koto wa nai wa) literally means “there’s nothing to say,” but if we take it in context of the song, he’s asking for an answer, she says she’s already given him an answer, and so “there’s nothing left to say,” on her part at least, so I translated it as “I have nothing to say to you”

–> ～とか(~toka) usually expresses that you’re stating an example, so like “I like flowers. Such as roses (toka), daisies (toka), lillies (toka) etc… So in this case, the nuance that I can get from the sentence seems like the speaker/YUI’s character is listing things/excuses that the other person has said such as “Forgive me” and “It’s a misunderstanding.” Based on the context of the song, I took it to be that the guy is asking YUI’s character for forgiveness. Both do make sense in that the Japanese –> English would be right in different context though. This would be based on your own interpretation.
–> どっちでもいいのに (docchidemo ii no ni) いい (ii) in Japanese has very strange uses, in that it can both mean “fine/good” and “no, I’m satisfied” depending on when you use it. It holds the meaning of being “satisfied” such as 私はいいです (Watashi wa ii desu) “I’m okay (meaning I don’t want/need anymore)” So I think that in this case the lyrics mean that “either way, she’s satisfied” or “either way, it doesn’t matter to her” because she’s already over and done with it. Again, open to interpretation… >.>

[6] – 揺れるだけ (yureru dake) literally means to sway in the physical sense, but it also holds the meaning of wavering in the emotional sense, as if you can’t make up your mind. The expression 心が揺れている (kokoro ga yureteiru) – “my heart is wavering” comes to mind when I read this line and I think that it means that YUI’s character does not know whether or not she wants to meet the guy.

–> キレイ(kirei) does mean “beautiful” or “pretty” in the visual sense, but it also means that something is “cleanly/completely done” (ex: That saw made a clean cut in that piece of wood). In this sense, YUI’s character is asking for a clean cut/complete separation. But I’m sure that YUI used this word so that it includes the meaning of a “beautiful” separation, perhaps in that she wants it done spectacularly.
–> 仕掛けて (shikakete) simply means to get something done/set something in motion.

[8] – 終わりにして (owari ni shite) kind of implies that she wants the guy to end it because it is in command form. But the fact that she’s asking for this means that she wants to end it too. And based on the last few lines of the song, it seemed to make more sense to translate this as “Let’s end this” (in the sense that, “I want you to agree with me that this needs to be over”) as opposed to “Please end this.” What do you think? :O?

[9] – 傷つけて (kizutsukete) simply means to hurt/injure someone/something. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s another person, but without context, this sentence could mean to hurt someone else or to hurt yourself. Both are correct in terms of the Japanese –> English, so it’s up to the reader/listener to determine who they think is being hurt. Based on the context, I think it is YUI’s character.

Interpretation:
So basically, based on my interpretation, this song is about a guy, who cheated on his girlfriend (YUI’s character), and got caught, but is asking for forgiveness and saying that everything is a misunderstanding. And it seems to be implied that he’s cheated multiple times, but even so, YUI’s character is a little confused and her heart is wavering because somewhere inside, she still loves him, but she’s being hurt, so she wants him to be the one to start the break up. It’s a little different from how azmikun took it (where YUI is the one hurting the guy and she’s the one who needs to be forgiven), but both interpretations are possible depending on who you place as the subject of each sentence, but putting the whole song together, it made more sense that YUI was the one being hurt (and I could never picture her in a cheating role anyway)

From:http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/interview/071001_01.html

Translated by: Xerith-sama

Its been 4 months since YUI’s release of the single “LOVE & TRUTH”. The title tune “LOVE & TRUTH” was used as the theme song for the movie “Closed Note” (starring Erika Sawajiri and Yuko Takeuchi).

— Before writing the melody and lyrics for the song “LOVE & TRUTH”, you began by reading the original novel and the movie script, didn’t you?

[YUI]: Since I normally enjoy reading novels, I read it just as I always would with any novel. In particular, the fact that I was to write the theme song for the movie was not something I consciously thought about while I was reading.

— That’s because you wanted to be fully absorbed into the world of the novel, right?

[YUI]: Yes. I wanted to see what I would feel from the novel and what I thought about it. It was fun.

— So when you finished reading it, what were your thoughts?

[YUI]: Although until about midway, the mood was relatively lighthearted, but as you progressed towards the end, there were quite a few of more sombre scenes. When I just finished reading the novel, the heart-wrenching feeling was overwhelming.

— Based on such emotions/thoughts, what kind of theme song would YUI san create?

[YUI]: Well, I didn’t want the song to end solely with feelings of sorrow… Of course while facing the themes present in both the original and in the movie script, I was asked to write the song from my own unique view and that wasn’t the world I had imagined, writing what you felt directly into song is the most important part of writing music.

— And what were these direct feelings that you felt?

[YUI]: I wanted to combine the wish of Ms. Ibuki (played by Ms. Yuko Takeuchi) to continuously encourage her students and the feelings of Ms. Kae (played by Ms. Erika Sawajiri) into a powerful appealing melody.

— Was the idea to add a string arrangement always there from the start?

[YUI]: No it wasn’t. The base melody and chord progressions were written first. After that, I considered whether the song fits well with the movie and decided that adding strings would make a better match with the movie. We added in the string arrangement and that’s how the theme song of “Closed Note” was completed.

— In the end, it became a powerful song, which at the same time, also had its gentle, thoughtful and sorrowful parts, right?

[YUI]: The song was named “LOVE & TRUTH”, which although involves placing two most powerful words next to each other, these words also invoke a sense of sorrow and tenderness at the same time. Although different people may see these words in different ways, I wanted to sing a pure and simple love story and that was how I finally arrived at “Love and Truth”. I also included the powerful feelings of accepting everything from the past into the song.

— The second track called “Jam” uses lyrics which peeks into YUI-san’s everday live. Words like “drum”, “guitar”, “leather jacket”, “punk rock”, “live house”, there were alot of these rock words.

[YUI]: I think the lyrics are realistic, but maybe a but of mischievousness came through (laughs). As much as possible, I kept it as indie band style and had fun both while writing the song or performing it live. I wanted to write a song expressing my enjoyment of music.

— The third track was the acoustic version of a previous single called “My Generation”.

[YUI]: I’ve always put an acoustic version of a previous single as the third track since my debut single. Since I always used to perform on the streets with an acoustic guitar before my debut, by using a simple acoustic guitar again, I would be able to recreate the same atmosphere from that time and make a version of “My Generation” different form the original using the sound of a simple acoustic guitar to deliver the song.

Translated by Pandas Who Read This Scare Me-sama

The encompassing voice around the axis that is the piano, this song doesn’t feel like anything you have done up until now. Please tell us what was the thought process behind your new song 「to Mother」.
Lately, I had the oppurtunity to sing songs about supporting people, however, this time I made it more about myself and important things.

Piano and guitars make different melodies don’t they? You fully know how to use both right?
Because usually when writing songs I used the piano, mainly due to this I’ve learnt to play the piano.

You did not write this for a film or a commercial (no tie in), after a long time just a plain new song, just a song written for yourself. So how did you choose the theme “mothers”?
The title is “to Mother”, however, it is not just this it is also for all “great things”. “Mothers” are obviously great, for myself and everyone who’ll listen I tried to write about things like “greatness” “important”.

Because its familiar, important and also a great existance was it hard to make the song (form)?
It wasn’t exactly difficult/troublesome, however, I was wondering if my feeling was correct (or is it conveyed my feelings correctly?) Thats what i thought. I faced it head on and tried to make it as honest as possible.

After going to the capital Tokyo and also at the same time living apart form each other. If we look at things now, what kind of person is your mother to you?
She is someone who I am really grateful to.

Also, when singing to Mother, did you have a change of heart and did you realise anything for the first time?
kindness is cruelty…

The instant I heard the phrase “If i couldn’t lie I don’t think i could continue living” , “I hate people who don’t even lie even more” from the 1st album’s 「Swing of lie」came to mind, was this idea inherited from your mother and is just reconfirming it. “if kindness is around us we’ll unintentionally take it for granted” I feel it really is just YUI like. In this song how do you think you are presented here?
If I realise it, it’ll be too late and I will regret it, the opposite of that idea

For the listener, sometimes mothers, sometimes friends, sometimes childhood friends …… according to the day or time you listen the way it sounds changes, this is my honest impression. YUI yourself, how would you like it to be heard?
Without specifying who, I think you should think about important people and things in general.

I’m thinking that the recording process was not too dissimilar to recording with a guitar, do you have anything to add?
It was done in a relaxed and fun manner.

Is each time the same (?) During things like recording was there a interesting episode please tell.
It’s not an interesting episode but, stylist Date san gave birth around the time the song was made. In the way “to mother” we said we wanted make the song with/for her. So one week after she gave birth she participated in the jacket photoshoot, we were very happy.

In the music video we can see you playing the piano, is it likely you’ll do this live?
I think it would be nice if I am able to.

On the second track 「Tonight」’s intro, its a guitar exploding rock number. At what point in time did you complete this song?
I made the guitar riff. The song has the image of it being played live.

The unison of the powerful guitars, the memorable guitar rift, the impressionable acoustic guitar phrase ．．．．．． the various developing guitar arrangement and sound make up, from the creation was the image made to match it?
When the riff was made, the sound and image of the song was immediately created

And then, one night’s work. with the passage of time the changing feelings, like a spinning expression the changing voice is very impressionable. What were you thinking when inserting this song?
It has the image of sneaking out of a party.

Plus 「GLORIA」’s acoustic version, the attack of a new single opening the curtains of your 23rd what kind of year do you want to have?
To enjoy at “my pace”, (not sure but) I think it would be nice if I could meet everyone during lives.

YUI is now 23 years old, looking at these photos, I feel you’ve become some what of a older sister.. What do you think about it.
I want to change in a meaningful way, but there are also parts of me that won’t/haven’t changed.

How have you spent your time recently? What are the general state of things?
I am recording. In order to make a good piece of work I am trying my best. I’ll be in your care (thank you)/yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

This interview is related to FROM ME TO YOU release.

I have become strong, did you ever think of that?
Yes I did!, for example in Tomorrow’s way there is a lyric that says “I feel like crying”
But now, even if feel like crying, I can hold my tears good enough

Where there times before were you did cry?
There were times where I would just let all my tears go. However, but now it’s the contrary. Perhaps I could turn myself into the opposite. I was weak in the beginning, so I wanted to become strong. I thought “I have to pretend to be tough”. Now I write about this revolving feelings. I expressed this feeling like being in a maze on these lyrics and words. However, comparing with my older self, I think I have become a little stronger.

I don’t put that much thought into it, I use it to express different things in the songs. “atashi” and “watashi” both are images of a girl but “atashi” is probably a bit younger and stuff like that. However, for “boku”, I tend to write it with an innocent feeling.

So when you write with this distinction is it kinda already decided naturally inside you?
Yeah, I don’t decide to do it before writing. It just naturally comes out this way.

So for words like “mama” too.
It just comes out naturally. Even though I don’t usallly say words like “mama” (Haha). However, all the feelings I put in the lyrics they are certainly somewhere inside of me, when I want to express these feelings, I’ll just naturally write things like “mama”.

YUI-sensei coming to school!
Let’s search for YUItsubo ! Summer roar of laughter episode!!
(tsubo: laughing point)

Welcome baaaack!!
YUI-sensei has come to the classroom for a live broadcast!!!!
Translated by panda, nana, kikino and azmi

Furthermore! she even brought her new song for the students of our school!!
The first broadcast in the universe is on our live broadcast lesson, so definitely don’t miss listening it from 10 o’clock!!

On the subject of our students! YUI sensei is completely unpredictable, being like a fluttering and dancing butterfly (laugh), as you should be painfully aware! Where it is I don’t know, YUI Sensei’s sense of humor! We will call it YUI-tsubo!!

As for YUI-sensei, really what kind of story would make her laugh?
That is, try searching for our own “This Summer’s Episode”!!

However, let’s be careful!
Everyone’s imagination goes to unspeakable places with YUI-tsubo (laugh)!!

As a reward, those students who make YUI Sensei laugh…will get a clear file!!!

9-27-2010
From the latest YUI LOCKS! lesson that day, YUI Sensei was coming from “Upper-Right Shikoku” (laugh), and did a special expanded version for us!

That day’s, YUI’s final blackboard…
“See you later”

After that its been 1 year in no time!
Tonight, in accordance with the promise made on that day… YUI has come to our live lesson!!!!

＼Waai! Whoo♪／

…hm? I feel as I can hear YUI sensei’s voice from somewhere… (Haha)

YUI sensei: Stand! Bow! SHOUT !!!!

Toyama Headmaster: Wait..wait! This is important!! (the ritual Stand! Bow! YUI added SHOUT! on her own)
Yashiro deputy head: Well since its YUI sensei why don’t we just allow it.

…it’s started already!!

YUI sensei: to all the students of SCHOOL OF LOCK! I’m back!! Its YUI!

Toyama headmaster & Yashiro deputy head : Welcome Baaack!!!!
We’ve been waiting for you! YUI sensei~!!
Welcome back!!

It is none other than YUI Sensei’s sudden appearance!

Tonight, just announced, for the first time in the universe, YUI Sensei’s new song will be aired!!

What’s more, the title hasn’t even been announced yet!! Which means the first time in the universe the title will be aired—-!!!1

Now then, YUI Sensei! Please announce the title of your new song that will be released on October 5th!!

YUI Sensei: It is “Green a.live”! The meaning is that we exist together with the Earth, and we shouldn’t forget such an important thing…I think. This year, a lot of things have happened…I thought about putting all the things I had been thinking about and feeling into a song, and
so I wrote this.

♪　Green a.live　/　YUI

(Listening to the song…)

Toyama headmaster: Its a very gentle song! This gentleness is nice, I thought that alot. Even though there were times where I had thought that it was maybe a little too gentle, I felt as if YUI sensei was saying “it’s fine as it is” to us.

YUI sensei: Thank you very much!

Yashiro deputy head : It makes you think about various things. After all the things we have had happen, you want to go around and give some strength, even a little bit. That was what I thought…

Immediately, many posts about their impressons had reached us!!

■ YUI sensei☆

Toyma Headmaster: Like you’ve been hiding something big…

Yashiro Deputy Head: YUI sensei … have you become an adult (Haha)?

YUI Sensei: I guess so~? But, I think because I wanted to put so many things into this song, it gives that impression.

■ YUI sensei! Welcome back!

How the lyrics entered from the intro in the new song was really awesome! Its really healing! I’ll definitely buy Green a.live!

Yashiro deputy head: Probably in the chorus parrt, it gives you certain feellings!!

YUI Sensei: It is because there is singing, and there is also crying.

Well then … in YUI sensei’s last lesson, the theme was everyone with YUI sensei “promise”

YUI Sensei: Even during the time I stopped my lectures, all the students that wrote on the bulletin board! I also didn’t forget the promise made at that time!!

Toyama Headmaster: Everyone, The result of all those promises made back then were written in for us. Thank you!! I think it would be nice if YUI bulletin board from here on would become YUI Sensei’s and everyones “Promise Board”

Yashiro deputy head : ” Because of that, everybody becomes stronger and makes something deeply meaning”

Yashiro Deputy Head : ” After bought the AC, it was put outside the house because I was still waiting for the handy man to install it…..and probably at that time suddenly a group of people came in (laugh)”

YUI-sensei :“Eeh! I wonder what was it?”

Yuuki : “After I open my eyes and I see it, there was a crab!”

YUI-sensei: “Ooooh!!”

Yuuki : ” I’m thinking that the crab came from outside, but i lived in third floor apartment! and then I tried to catch it, but it ran away, don’t know why, maybe it likes me, because when i was entering the house, the crab is coming closer to my feet! And then I try to throw it away and carried it away until outside the house. Even though I already hold it with my two hands, the crab bite me and ran away down stairs with skill!!”

YUI-sensei : “How skillful?! (Haha)”

Toyama Headmaster : “I’m also doubtful with this thing, but please tell us about something amusing that happened to you recently!”

YUI-sensei : “amusing thing that happened recently ……One night I was walking, in front of me there is a middle-age man with fierce face walk towards me. I felt a bit frightened…and I tried to walk keeping distance from him. Suddenly he come nearer and ask me “Young laaaady, what place is this?” (Haha!!)

Toyama Headmaster : ” What place is this?”

YUI-sensei : That middle-age man seems drunk, and he came out from taxi to a place that he wasn’t familiar with and he seemed lost (Haha) “What place is this?” he couldn’t really ask it properly, it was funny!

Yashiro Deputy Head : Maybe, our Laughing Point is not really different from yours

Toyama Headmaster : But, isn’t it a pretty good hint?

Okay, take YUI-sensei’s hint as reference and keep trying!!

■ ☆Looking for YUI tsubo☆

Toyama Headmaster & Yashiro Deputy Head: “Tsubo succeded”

YUI-sensei : “Your pronounciation is good (Haha) if you say those same words 3 times I’ll laugh!

Toyama Headmaster : It also could be a good hint too right ? (Haha)

Alright, RN pekepekewakuchin you get a clear file!!

Looking for YUI-senseis’ tsubo

At Okayama station I took a weird survey. I got it from a middle-age man approximately 40 years old with a mint gum scent. At the beginning I was asked about my age, and continue to “are u in soccer club? basketball club? after thinking about that questions, I answered “I’m in athletic club” and then he kept asking “do you have a girlfriend?” and when I answer ” I don’t have one”, he said ” let’s make you get a girlfriend” and then he keep telling me his love stories. I said in my heart “you’re so annoying, I’m not interested in your love stories” and then he just go and I really don’t understand at all the meaning of that survey. It became a confusing day of my summer holidays.

YU-sensei : “HAHAHAHAHAAaaa (Haha)!!

Toyama Headmaster : “…YUI-sensei, why suddenly…? (Haha)”

Okay let’s continue!

RN Niyafumu, Hyogo prefecture, female.

I’m RN Niyafumu and I enjoy practicing with our band in summer holiday.
I’m practicing YUI-sensei’s song “again”!

Toyama Headmaster : “Niyafumu, are you confident to found “YUI tsubo”?

Niyafumu : “hmm…Yes I am! (Haha)”

But you’re talking like you don’t have confidence (Haha)
Anyway, go head!!

Niyafumu : The day before yesterday, I’m wearing sleveesless shirt, at the bottom of my arm, I saw something flapping. When I saw that, it turns out there is an armpit hair on my right arm. Then I measure it with ruler, turns out it 4cm long! Maybe this is a world record I think. I tried to take a picture of it, but because it was located near the shoulder, I couldn’t capture it well. Then I tried to take the photo with black background, then I pulled the hair, but when it was time to capture it ” tuingggg” the hair plucked (crying)”

YUI-sensei : “Hmm…I see….!”

Niyafumu : Even though it failed to be no.1 world record, but for about 30 minutes, I was laughing to myself for this finding!!”

YUI-sensei : “That’s right!”

Yashiro Deputy Head : ” Maybe it was a hair that only last for 30 minutes”

Toyama Headmaster : “Is there something like that? (Haha)”

Niyafumu: ” There was (Haha)!”

YUI-sensei : “Hahaha (Haha)!”

Toyama Headmaster & Yashiro Deputy Head : “Success (Haha)!!”

Congratulations Niyafumu, you get a clear file with YUI’s sign on it!
Congratulations!! good luck (keep trying) with the band!

Alright, still continuing!

RN Putoremaiosu

Looks like RN Putoremaiosu also don’t have confidence, but he sounds like a confidence person (Haha)
OK, straight to bursting laughter episode!

Putoremaiosu : ” The day before yesterday, my family went vacation to Mie prefecture, first day we went to the hot spring and in the changing room, I lost my blue with yellow polkadot pants, and I don’t know either why I bought pants like that…!”

Yashiro Deputy Head : “Were there any suspicious people around?”

Putoremaiosu : ” Yes, there are 5 to 6 people and one suspicious uncle with his mustache..!”

YUI-sensei : “ohh I see…”

Aa..! YUI-sensei only acted normal!!
This is not a good sign…!

Toyama Headmaster : ” OK then, the way you say “pantsu” …”

Yashiro Deputy Head : “ say it in an interesting tone or something!”

Putoremaiosu : “…lemon no pantsu”

Toyama Headmaster : ” ehh…wait….wait..!!”

Putoremaiosu “lemon no pantsu~”

Reporter: Ka Man Leung

I have heard J-pop for most of my life. To be honest, I’ve never been attracted by YUI, ordinary vocals, not the prettiest, and the songs aren’t that special. No matter how hit her songs are, they are never the mostly played in my MP3 or Iphone. Seeing how her concert in HK was completely sold out, I was really surprised as it was her first foreign concert.

As I head towards the Asia-World Arena, I was expecting a very simple, calm, acoustic concert. The results were totally unexpected. From a street performer to a contracted singer, YUI has been a professional artist for six years and her singles are constantly in the top three of Oricon. Unlike AKB who is famous via marketing and other means, what YUI depends on is just her songs. Hearing her live, YUI’s singing isn’t as great as MISIA, but her focus and dedication covers up for her shortcomings. YUI’s performance is truely exceptional, singing with her guitar, and even playing the piano during the encore segment. Cheers and applause never ceased throughout the concert.

I was most surprised by the pure singer and her very courteous (Japanese styled) fans. When YUI finished her last song and the band left the stage, she said that she wanted to do a street-performance and sing “Goodbye Days”. After saying that, she sat down with her guitar and sang with no microphones nor pick-ups. Due to my seat being very far away, I only heard a weak voice and guitar souds, but I saw YUI on the screen singing with all her heart and all her emotions flowing from within. And for the first time, those were five minutes of complete silence, no phones ringing, no whistles, and no crazy shouts of “I love you”, even right before she was about to sing, the crowd were all hushing each other, and it was a sight I thought I’d only see in Japan. A rush of emotions came from within me hearing the voice of YUI amidst the silence in the arena.

[backside] So there are still singers in today’s entertainment world who do not rely on fancy clothing, nor sexiness. In the two hours, only changing once, YUI relied only on her talents to capture and touch others. There are still positive energy in this world.

P.S. Japanese artists having concerts in HK sell a lot of pretty concert goods of good quality, unlike the HK singers who just randomly make ugly t-shirts to get money.

Hi Everyone, I am YUI! Nice to meet you!

YUI – Most Sincere Rock

–What’s the first impression when you arrive in HK?
YUI: This is my first time coming Hongkong, I was shocked by the beautiful
streets, like the height of the buildings and streets that are being decorated by lights
I am really shocked.
The food that I want to eat the most is (Gu Lu Rou) Sweet and sour pork, it taste awesome!

–What are your feeling when you perform street live in HK?
YUI: This is my first time performing street live in HK, everyone was so warm, I was totally shocked.
It’s because i was performing cross-legged sitting on the floor, Seeing everyone’s attention from the bottom up,
I can clearly feel the communication between people that stop by and listen.

– What you learn/obtain during your last break/holidays
YUI: Since the start of my debut, I totally concentrate on my music career, continuously singing until one day, I decided to change my feelings.
I requested for my holiday. During my holidays, I visited alot of places. This is really a holiday filled with excitement and enrichment.

–Your environment requried to make songs.
YUI: I dont know how to do anything special, at home, i just take my guitar and start to sing, compose songs and play the guitar.
Different songs are compose in different situation. Before completion of the song, I will first have an imagination that the song is totally complete. If i were to count how long it takes, it will be long…… but when we are doing it seriously, I only need 20-30 minutes.

–What is your childhood dream?
YUI: To be Honest, I really wanna become a takoyaki seller. When I was young, I saw the uncle selling takoyaki with his amazing skills of flipping the takoyaki, it was like magic! I was totally shocked!

–Is it your nature using guitar to make songs ? Use a word to describe you and your guitar relationship.

YUI: Naturally playing the guitar while composing songs, but will also use the piano also! Never really think that much, Usually use to guitar to make songs, its the only thing that was always by my side.

–Being recongize as a singer living with personality.
YUI: This is my first time hearing people praising me as a singer living with personality, really thank you! haha! thank you is a common word for me.
I never thought of this, but there are alot of people living with personality right?

– any words to tell your fans/people?
YUI: I want to tell people that, fully focus on what you really wanna do and don’t regret. These words touched me before, Now i wanna share it with everyone.

–
