最近は応援歌などを歌わせて頂く機会が多かったのですが、今回は、もっと自分自身の事や大切に思う事について考えて書いてみました。
Recently I’ve had the opportunity to write rooting songs and such for other projects, but this time it is more something for myself, something I have carefully considered, and thought about writing.

このタイトルを直訳すると「母親へ」となりますが、母親はもちろん、広い意味で、聴いてくれる皆さんにとって「偉大だ」と感じるものに想いを重ねて聴いてもらえたらと思います。
早く聴いてもらいたいです！ 楽しみにしていてくださいね!!

With over 81,000 units sold within the first week, singer-songwriter YUI’s single 「GLORIA」(released on the 20th) has for the first time captured the No.1 position on the 2/1 single ranking*. She has officially become the 2nd female singer-songwriter in history to achieve 4 consecutive No.1 singles since Utada Hikaru 7 years ago. YUI’s comment, 「I’m really happy!　Hereafter, by loving the music I hold dear, I intend to keep progressing forward」.

Her previous single 「It’s all too much／Never say die」 which was released October last year has also put her in the record books as the 3rd female singer-songwriter since Matsutouya Yumi and Utada Hikaru to achieve 3 consecutive No.1 singles. And with this 4th single, she continues this consecutive record. Exceeding the record made by Matsutouya Yumi (3 consecutive single – 1993/7/26′s 「A midsummer night’s dream」～1994/10/24′s 「Haru yo, koi」), YUI is currently only the 2nd female singer-songwriter in history to achieve this feat since Utada Hikaru 7 years ago (2001/11/28′s 「traveling」～2005/9/28′s 「Be My Last」).

YUI’s first single this year, which marks the 5th anniversary since her debut, is currently on-air as the CM song for Benesse Corporation’s “Shinkenzemi High School Correspondence Course”. As a supporter in the “Attack Pledge” campaign organized by the same company, YUI had accepted the pledges from high school students all over the country to and channeled them into this “rooting song for high school students”. With her new single, YUI encouragingly pushes the back of aspiring high school students

YUI’s first single of the year 2010, 「GLORIA」 has been confirmed to be released on 20th January.

The title song will be aired as Benesse Corporation’s 「Shinkenzemi Highschool Correspondence Course」’s CM song starting January next year. Facing towards the future, high school students from around the country have been sending in their 「Attack Pledge」. And with these pledges in mind, YUI have started to create a ‘cheering song’ with an encouraging melody.

Her single 「It’s all too much / Never say die」 which was released October this year, have also helped her become only the 3rd female singer-songwriter to have 3 consecutive No.1 single on the Oricon chart after Matsutouya Yumi and Utada Hikaru.

Youthful days, I think it’s really a time where people are inspired to do various kinds of things. And so, 「The way you live your life at that time, it really has the ability to change your whole life」. “Could everyone empathize with this feeling too?” I wondered (while creating this song).

Students that are preparing for exams, or even those involved in sports, those thinking “Now is the time to work hard!”, I want all of them to listen to this song!

2010 will be the 5th year anniversary since YUI’s debut. From just that, we can expect a more vigorous development/activities throughout the next year from her.

T: From Singapore, Natsukashii Band.
S: The name, Natsukashii Band, I think it could have come from a word with a similar meaning over there. From ‘Something Band’, they probably thought “Let’s try and translate it into Japanese!”, “Natsukashii eh? Yosh! Sounds good, let’s go with the Natsukashii in Japanese!”. Something like that probably happened…but that’s just my imagination talking~ And so we have the cover of ‘again’ from this Natsukashii Band.
T: (The covers) were really interesting weren’t they?
S: You can tell that they tried their best. They were really good! The singing and the performances were properly recorded and compiled. Everyone’s effort really came through in the covers.
