Another possible explanation for the “kimi no watashi ni natte” part, that’s very hard to translate, can be that people tend to idealize the other when they fall in love, ignoring the flaws. The girl in the song wants to become that idealized version. With that theory the meaning would be “Becoming who you think I am”
